Halvor F. Melien (baryton) er konsert- og operasanger, og opptrer i hele Europa. Han har et bredt konsertrepertoar, som spenner fra 1700- tallsmusikk til helt nye verk. Han har viet spesielt mye tid til Bachs musikk.
Halvor har jobbet med alle de norske symfoniorkestrene og med ensembler som BBC Philharmonic, Les Talens Lyriques, Concertgebouw Kamerorkest, Danmarks Radios Symfoniorkester, Oslo Sinfonietta, Det Norske Kammerorkester, Barokkanerne og mange andre. I 2015-16 var han del av solistensemblet ved Den Norske Opera og Ballett. Han har medvirket på flere CD-innspillinger, blant annet Kurt Weills «De syv dødssynder» med Oslofilharmonien, John Frandsens «Requiem» med Danmarks Radios Symfoniorkester og Knut Vaages «Høgsongen». Halvor har urfremført verk skrevet til ham av Ørjan Matre, Lisa Streich, Eivind Buene, Øyvind Mæland og flere andre.
Liedsjangeren er viktig for Halvor, og han er for tiden del av flere Lied-duoer.
Halvor F. Melien (baritone) is a concert and opera singer, performing across Europe. He has a wide-ranging concert repertoire, spanning from 18th-century music to contemporary works. He has devoted particular attention to the music of J.S. Bach.
Halvor has performed with all of the Norwegian symphony orchestras, as well as ensembles such as the BBC Philharmonic, Les Talens Lyriques, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Sinfonietta, The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Barokkanerne, and many others. In the 2015–16 season, he was part of the soloist ensemble at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet.
He has appeared on several recordings, including Kurt Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins with the Oslo Philharmonic, John Frandsen’s Requiem with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and Knut Vaage’s Høgsongen. Halvor has premiered works written specifically for him by composers such as Ørjan Matre, Lisa Streich, Eivind Buene, Øyvind Mæland, and others.
The Lied genre is especially important to Halvor, and he is currently involved in several Lied duos.
